Cross over

Over the weekend I attended a conference for the College Media Association in NYC. The conference went three days and involved  hundreds of group sessions, a few roundtable events and three incredible keynote speakers. Every hour there was a list of about 8 sessions too choose from. Each session, lead by at least one advisor of a college media or professional, was geared toward journalists, broadcast majors or advertising representatives. 

One of the sessions I attended was on how to get an internship. It presented little new information but the speaker did tell the audience that while large print media publications may be dying, many of the smaller newspapers are still profitable. I was surprised to hear this– it's so encouraging! But at the same time, this info was only coming from one person, which makes me take it with a grain of salt.

The panel that spoke at this session gave a few tips for resumes. They said never to include any information from high school and do not put unrelated work experience. They review so many resumes that it only takes up valuable space to put unrelated information.
